ศิลปะการรับ หรือ ไม้รับ หมายถึง การนำเอาไม้มวยต่าง ๆ มาประกอบเข้าด้วยกัน เพื่อแก้ไขการจู่โจมของฝ่ายรุก ไม้มวยชนิดหนึ่ง อาจแก้การจู่โจมของไม้มวยชนิดเดียวกัน หรือต่างชนิดก็ได้ หรือแก้ทีละไม้ เช่น แก้การต่อย แก้การเตะ แก้การถีบ แก้การศอก แต่ในการชกมวยจริง ๆ ไม่ได้ชกหรือเตะเพียงจังหวะเดียว แต่จะรุกเป็นชุด เช่น ต่อยนำ เตะตาม แล้วเข่าตาม หรือต่อยตามเข่า

Art of defenses or Mai-rup means Combination of a variety of Mai Muay for solving assault  from attacker. One type of Mai Muay can be solve attacktion of the same or different Mai Mauy or fix at each point. Such as solving punching, solving kicking, solving thrusting, solving elbow. Not punching or kicking at one step in boxing but it is combination of attacking step as Jab punch, follow kick and knee strike or punch with knee.
